About Ashley Meyer Counsellor & Psychotherapist

Training & Background

“The Self is not a distant star to be reached only after years of exhausting travel. It is always present. The real journey is to allow it to emerge.”

— Piero Ferrucci

My Approach

As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, I offer a gentle, spacious, and compassionate environment where all parts of you are welcome.

My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens not through striving to “fix” ourselves, but by meeting our experience with presence, curiosity, and care.

I draw on the principles of Psychosynthesis — a soulful, integrative approach that honours both the wounding and the potential within us — together with energetic and body-based practices such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) to support trauma resolution and emotional regulation.

My role is to walk alongside you — to hold a safe, contained space for your unfolding, to listen deeply, and to trust the quiet wisdom that emerges when we turn inward.

We might explore the parts of you that feel stuck, anxious, or unseen — and over time, welcome them into a wider field of understanding. I hold a deep faith in each person’s innate capacity to heal, grow, and reconnect with their inner truth.

The journey toward healing isn’t always linear, but it is sacred.

It would be my privilege to walk part of that path with you — whether that’s in person from my comfortable home practice in North London, or meeting remotely online.

Like many drawn to the healing professions, my path into psychotherapy and counselling has been shaped not only by formal training but by my own life experience. I’ve come to understand — both personally and professionally — that pain and difficulty are not barriers to growth, but often the very ground from which transformation emerges as we seek to reunite with our true selves.

From an early age, I sensed there was something more — a deeper current beneath our experiences of struggle and longing.

I have known emotional wounding and the pain of feeling separate or unseen, yet within that, there was always a quiet sense of being held by something larger — a guiding presence I now understand as what Psychosynthesis refers to as ‘the Self’.

This inner connection became my compass. It revealed a sacred pattern: that our deepest pain can open us to meaning, connection, and inner strength. As Leonard Cohen wrote, “There is a crack in everything — that’s how the light gets in.” Over time, that sense of purpose crystallised into a vocation — a calling to accompany others on their journeys of healing, self-discovery, and wholeness.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Outside of my practice, family life is central to who I am. I find nourishment in spending time with loved ones, being in nature, and sharing life with animals — especially dogs. I’m also inspired by the creative world — theatre, the arts, design, and quiet reflection.

These parts of my life continually ground and enrich my work, reminding me of the beauty, complexity, and resilience that live in all of us.
